Spring Victory is a Punk/Rock band from Philadelphia that consisted of ex members of Steprocket, Delta 88, Jonsey’s Drop & Impulse 9. And they lasted from 2002-2003.
The band formed in June of 2002 and had four members. Those members being Shane Henderson who was the one of the vocalists and guitarists, Jon Santarlas who was the other guitarist, Kyle Miller who was the drummer, and finally Mark Ciccone who was the other vocalist and also the bassist for the band.
The band had come together to make a four song CD titled, “With Skies Like These” that was inspired by and dedicated to the passing of one of their good friends. (This was initially meant to be a five song CD, as stated through their updates on their website and shown on how its put on their bandcamp) The names of the songs on this CD are:
- Point
- With Skies Like These
- Live On
- Carly
With the final song that was meant to be on the CD titled “Arion” which we would get as a single along with the song “You Will See”, both being posted on the site Mp3.com which was shut down December 2nd 2003. And thankfully for us the lyrics for these songs were archived and can be found here.
The release of “With Skies Like These” went well with support of new fans and ones from their previous bands, motivating them to continue working on the project for as long as they could. However that time would unfortunately be coming up sooner than they’d hope with August 17th of 2002 being one of the last shows that the band would play together before their bassist and vocalist Mark Ciccone would be leaving for school for the wintertime, causing the band to have to work around his school schedule. And while this was difficult for the band and would be the cause of their decline, they were determined to make it work the best they could. Every break that Mark had he would play live with the band and they would record new music too, although all we have is the six tracks that were archived.
As 2003 started the band seemed like they still had promise though, successfully working in between Marks school schedule and even being in a garageband contest where they had the chance to win a free music video, which they planned on using for their song “Arion”. Unfortunately the band didn’t end up winning, and their drummer Kyle Miller departed from the band, leaving them looking for a new drummer. On top of this, at the same time Mark would also be taking a couple of month long break from the band to be the bassist for the band Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer on their tour. Jon and Shane stated that they were taking this time to write new music however, but not having a drummer did end up setting them back. And as a trend that I see with a lot of these smaller 2000s bands they said that they were going to have a new website up and going, and then they disappear. This could just mean that the next website was poorly archived, but I couldn’t find any other music or mention of this band after this so just like One Way Letter I’m going to assume they broke up at this time or shortly after.
